South East Asian Amateur Golf Team Championship for the Putra Cup, Lion City Cup, Santi Cup and Kartini Cup 2018

The Asean Golf Federation is pleased to announce that the registration for the above event is now open. Entry is open by invitation only to members of the Asean Golf Federation. Kindly submit your entry via the attached form.

This year, Myanmar Golf Federation was awarded the honour to host the region’s prestigious amateur team events that started back in 1961. Malaysian’s first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman who wished for a competition to be played among teams along the lines of the World Amateur Golf Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy donated a rose gold trophy for South East Asia amateur golfers. The objective of the competition is to foster friendship among the sportsmen (and women) of South East Asia.

The tournament has come a full circle since 1961 where previously only men’s event was being staged. In 2004, a junior event was introduced called the Lion City Cup with the trophy donated by Singapore and in 2009; Thailand introduced the ladies event called Santi Cup. Indonesia then jumped into the bandwagon and donated a trophy for junior girls aptly called Kartini Cup, which started in 2013.

This year, the Championships will be held from December 20-23, 2018 at City Golf Course, Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.
