WOMEN IN GOLF CHARTER
The MGA unveiled a new program at the Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) which aims primarily to increase the number of women and girls participating in golf as well as to encourage more opportunities for women to work within the golf industry as part of the R&A Women in Golf Charter. MGA has made several changes in its Constitution as part of this drive in 2019 by including a third Vice President who must be a Lady as its Office Bearers. MGA has also appointed YAM Tunku Puteri Dato’ Seri Jawahir Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Jaa’far, the President of the Malaysian Ladies Golf Association (MALGA) as the third Vice President of MGA and subsequently appointed her as the Chairperson of the MGA Women in Golf Charter Subcommittee.
Co-hosted by MGA and RSGC, the event also featured presentations by Ms Deborah Wong, Lady Captain on Kota Permai Golf & Country Club and Rules of Amateur Status Chairperson on Rules Seminar and Referees as well as Ms Zulaikah Nurziana Nasser, one of the Malaysian players enrolling in the NCAA program who. The event was attended by representatives of golf clubs who have pledged their support as signatories of the Charter, Committee Members of MGA and RSGC as well as members of the media.
