MGA JUNIOR CLUB
MGA is pleased to announce the formation of a Junior Club to register all juniors under 18 years old with the governing body.
HANDICAPS FOR NON-MEMBERS
The Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) is pleased to announce that the National Handicapping System/USGA Handicap & Slope Rating Sub-Committee has set up 'NHS Golf Clubs' in accordance to the USGA Handicap System Manual to provide handicaps to non-members at a fee of RM120.00 per annum and junior members registered in MGA free of charge.
PRESIDENT'S CHALLENGE (PENINSULA VS SABAH/SARAWAK)
The President's Challenge 2009 (Peninsula vs Sabah/Sarawak) for the Thomas Lee Trophy (Men's Event) and Robin Loh Trophy (Ladies' Event) will be staged at Kelab Golf Sarawak on March 30 & 31, 2010.

Kuala Lumpur, 3 February 2010 - Event organisers today announced the first line up of players for the Maybank Malaysia Open 2010. PGA member K.J. Choi will be headlining the field of players in the 156-strong line up competing for top honours. Joining Choi in a clash of the champions from the various tours are the familiar faces of two-time Maybank Malaysian Open Thonchai Jaidee and Asian Tour's Prayad Marksaeng. European Tour's Darren Clarke and Chris Wood, together with Japan's Shingo Katayama and PGA member Daniel Chopra, round off the line up at the much anticipated national Open.

BUKIT JALIL GCC WILL HOST KL AMATEUR OPEN ONCE AGAIN
Bukit Jalil Golf & Country Club will host the Kuala Lumpur Amateur Open 2010 from February 24-26. Entry fee is RM300.00 inclusive of buggy fee, daily breakfast, prize giving lunch and goodies.
The 22ND SGCC AMATEUR OPEN
The Sabah Golf & Country Club Amateur Open which is in its 22nd year will be held from May 7-9, 2010.
MGA - SGA ANNUAL MATCH
The MGA VS SGA Annual Match 2009 will be staged at Raffles Country Club on 10 & 11 February 2010. Singapore will be hosting the 2009 event.
HISYAM PREVAILS TO CLINCH THE TOP HONOURS AT THE SELANGOR AMATEUR OPEN 2009
Mohamad Hisyam Abdul Majid, MGA's overseas based player staved off strong challenges from team mate Gavin Kyle Green to win the overall title of the Selangor Amateur Open with even par 72 today for a 1-over par 217 tournament total. With this win, he automatically qualifies to compete in the star-studded Maybank Malaysian Open to be held at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club from March 4-7, 2010.
MGA TO ERADICATE 'BUAYA' MENACE
AS part of its continuous efforts to upgrade knowledge of rules among its referees, the Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) organized a Rules Briefing at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club on January 18 specifically on the Golf Rules' New Decision 2010-2011. Headed by Chairman of Competitions and Rules Subcommittee, Low Teck San, and assisted by his team members; Dato' Tan Yan Fatt, Ting Bang Kong and Ir Jayson Cheok, the seminar started from 8.30am onwards and exclusive for MGA referees only.

Rule of the Week
Q: May a player change clubs during a round if the grips become wet?

A: No. A club is "unfit for play" if it is substantially damaged, but not if the grip becomes slippery - see Note to Rule 4-3a.
