MGA CHARITY GOLF 2020
Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam: A total 124 golfers congregated at Kota Permai Golf & Country Club to support the Inaugural MGA Charity Golf on 23rd February 2020 which is under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty, Seri Paduka Baginda The Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah who is also the Royal Patron of the Malaysian Golf Association.
Teed off at 8.15am shotgun start, the tournament was blessed with beautiful sunny and breezy weather. His Majesty, Seri Paduka Baginda The Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah also consented to play in the tournament along with the invited golfers from the Sponsors.
YBhg. Tan Sri Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor, President of MGA put on record the Association’s gratitude to His Majesty for instrumental in reviving the Malaysian Open to be held from March 5-8, 2020 at Kota Permai Golf & Country Club. Tan Sri Anwar also thanked His Majesty for taking part in the Charity Golf which has managed to raise RM1 million to benefit the Yayasan Al-Sultan Abdullah (YASA) as well as for MGA National Junior Development Programme (NJDP).
YASA was founded by His Majesty, Seri Paduka Baginda The Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah to provide dialysis treatment to the underprivileged. His Majesty also hopes to expand the establishment of the Haemodialysis Centre to the rural area and to focus on people from the B40 and M40.
The 3 main activities in the MGA National Junior Development Program are Golf in School, grassroot programes and junior elite squad which will involve both boys and girls under 18 years old. The NJDP also manages Malaysia’s representation in major junior events in the region including the Junior Opens organized by Asia Pacific Golf Confederation members.
Tan Sri Anwar also thanked the Organizing Committee Chairman, Dato’ Majid Manjit Abdullah for the dedication and commitment to take on this huge responsibility and enabling MGA to run this event successfully. The tournament was won Jim Tan with 42 stableford points, followed by Dato’ Sri Adnan with 41 points and third place went to Liew Chin Fatt with 41 points on count back.
