The Junior Open 2018

TOP 2 MALAYSIAN JUNIORS UNDER 16 YEARS OLD SELECTED TO REPRESENT MALAYSIA IN THE JUNIOR OPEN

Feirish Nor Feizal and Vinisha Gunaseelan had been selected to represent Malaysia in the biennial Junior Open staged by the R&A from 16-18 July 2018 at the Eden Course, St Andrews. They were honored to be selected for this one in a lifetime opportunity to compete amongst the world best juniors at St. Andrews.

“I dreamt of this moment 7 years ago. Now I am here standing on the soil of ‘Home of Golf St Andrews’”, said Feirish Nor. “I would like to thank all the people who have made this dream comes true especially my parents, my coach and MGA.”

All members of the R&A are invited to send their leading boy and girl golfers under the age of 16 which is played over three rounds of stroke-play. All competitors will play 36 holes with the leading 80 and ties (gross) qualifying to play the third round. Prizes in regional categories will be awarded on handicap over 36 holes.

Some of the former Malaysian juniors who had competed in the tournament were Aretha Pan, Ainil Johani, Loy Hee Ying, Chan Tuck Soon, Low Khai Jei and Galven Kendall Green who have either joined the professional rank or pursuing their tertiary education.

Apart from competing with the leading juniors from all over the world, the juniors would also have the opportunity to watch spectacular golf by the top professional players like Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson, Bubba Watson, Tongchai Jaidee and many other household names vying for the Claret Jug.
