Team Kuala Lumpur represented by Kenneth De Silva and Tan Wei Chean outshined the rest of the field by claiming the Inaugural Etiqa Malaysia Cup title after a thrilling 3rd hole play off against Team Selangor.
Team Kuala Lumpur and Selangor both carded a total score of 4-over par 292 to set up a thrilling playoff which evetually won by Kuala Lumppur after the 3rd playoff. Third place went to Team Perak who is represented by sibling, Low Khai Loon and Low Khai Jei with an impressive 9-over par 297.
Conducted by the Malaysian Golf Association, this tournament is the brainchild of Datuk Robin Loh, President of Malaysian Golf Association and sponsored by Etiqa. It was held at the Seri Selangor Golf Club from July 20-23. The tournament is held to create more world standard tournaments in the country in line with the MGA's program towards Olympic 2016.
Kenneth and Wei Chean will represent Malaysia in the Asean Cup which will also be sponsored by Etiqa to be held at Kelab Golf Seri Selangor from September 22-25, 2010. For the inaugural event, 10 states took part i.e. Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Perak, Kelantan, Kedah, Perlis and Sabah.
