SELANGOR LEADS SOLO AFTER ROUND 2 OF THE ETIQA MALAYSIA CUP

Selangor, represented by national players Mohamad Iszaimi Ismail and Mohamad Iylia Jamil leads solo after round 2 of the Inaugural Etiqa Malaysia Cup currently underway at Kelab Golf Seri Selangor with a team score of even par 144.

For the inaugural event, 10 states took part i.e. Selangor, Perak, Perlis, Kelantan, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Sabah and Kedah.

Kuala Lumpur, represented by Kenneth de Silva and Tan Wei Chen finished second with a team score of 4-over par 148. Tied at third are Kelantan, represented by Mohd Azlizan Zakarian and Mohd Azran Othman, Sabah, represented by Lam Yu Shuen and Chin Jun Nian and Perak, represented by Low Khai Loon and Low Khai Jei with identical team score of 5-over par 149.

Conducted by the Malaysian Golf Association, this tournament is the brainchild of Datuk Robin Loh, President of Malaysian Golf Association and sponsored by Etiqa. It is currently held at the Seri Selangor Golf Club from July 20-23. The tournament is held to create more world standard tournaments in the country in line with the MGA's program towards Olympic 2016.

The winner of the tournament will represent Malaysia in the Asean Cup which will also be sponsored by Etiqa.
