MOHD ROZI RETAINED HOME CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE

The 2-handicapper Mohd Rozi Mat Yusoff representing Kelantan Golf and Country Club has defeated the rest of his competition at his home club for the Kelantan Amateur Open 2010 which was concluded on July 3rd 2010. He carded 75, 74, 72 which brings him to a total of 5-over par 221 for a win throughout the 3-day tournament.

Falling short of 4 swings behind him was Day-1 leader, Mohd Azlizam Zakaria of KGCC and MGA's Mohamad Azman Basharudin who shared second place, each rounded up the tournament with 9-over par 225. MGA elite players, Mohd Iylia Jamil and Kenneth De Silva were not in their zone for this tournament, and only managed to place 6th with 13-over par 229 and 9th with 15-over par 231 respectively.

As for the Nett event, 13-handicapper Wan Mohd Anuar W. Mohamad of Kelab Golf Royal Pahang triumph with a total of 197, followed by his fellow comrade, the 10-handicapper Adam Muda with a total of 200.

In the last year's edition, Haziq Hamizan from KLGCC nabbed the championship title with an overall finishing total of one-under par 215, while Day 2 leader of the tournament, MGA's elite player Kenneth De Silva slips thus settling for 2nd place with a concluding tournament total of 3-over par 219.

Conducted in collaboration between the Kelantan Golf & Country Club and the Malaysian Golf Association, this tournament has been a staple in the MGA's fixtures which attract top amateurs from all over the country. Since 2008, this tournament has been accorded the R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking that ranks the world's top amateurs. This year, more than 190 amateurs descended to Kelantan to take part in this annual state open.
