Asean's best Awaits Duo

MGA will be organizing the Etiqa Malaysia Cup 2010, an inaugural tournament which is the brainchild of Datuk Robin Loh, President of Malaysian Golf Association and sponsored by Etiqa. It will be held at the Seri Selangor Golf Club from July 20-23. The tournament is held to create more world standard tournaments in the country in line with the MGA's program towards Olympic 2016. This event has also been given the R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking status.

As the host nation for the 50th Putra Cup, Datuk Robin has taken over the post of President of Asean Golf Federation from Rungsrid Luxsitanonda, President of the Thailand Golf Association. His intention is to create a tournament for the benefits of the ASEAN countries of a world cup format called ASEAN Cup. In order to select the Malaysian team for the ASEAN Cup, he proposed to organize this Malaysia Cup so only the best Malaysian players will represent the country. Etiqa has agreed to jump on board and will generously sponsor the Malaysia and ASEAN Cup for RM 60,000.

Registrations of players below age 24 and practice rounds will start on July 19th, and the 4-day competition will go underway where teams comprising of two players will battle it out over 72 holes stroke play team event. Entry is by invitation only by the MGA State Representative and/or State Golf Associations. On the first and third days are four-ball (best ball) plays while for the second and final days are foursomes (alternate shots) play. The lowest total point of 4 days will be the winners and carry the Malaysian flag at the Etiqa ASEAN Cup with all expenses paid for.

Prizes will be awarded to the First, Second and Third placing. The Challenge trophy will be awarded to the Champion Team only. All entries are to be made on the Official Entry Form and must reach the Tournament Office by Thursday, 15th July 2010.
