The 100Plus Malaysian Junior Open 2010 will be held at the 18-hole, par 72 championship course of Nexus Golf Resort in Karambunai from 16-19 September 2010. With daunting water hazards and tricky greens designed by the renowned golf architect Ronald Fream, it is sure to be a challenge for the participants.

Boys and girls who want to participate should be at a minimum age of 12 years old or a maximum of 18 years old. In the boys division, the maximum handicap is 14 with an index of 12.5 and as for girls, a handicap of 18 with an index of 16.3. In the individual 72-hole stroke play, there will be a cut after 36 holes and the field will be reduced to 60 leading competitor and ties based on their ratio.

As for the International Team Event, the gross score of the team members for the first two rounds will be counted. Only those of a minimum age of 6 years old or a maximum age of 11 years old are permitted to participate. The limit for the junior boys is a maximum handicap of 24, and as for the junior girls, a maximum handicap of 36.

Warming up to the event on June 16th, the practice round will go underway and also the official opening ceremony. A junior clinic for the Malaysian Junior is scheduled to take place on the 19th.

"We purposely fixed the tournament to start on 16th September to coincide with the Malaysia Day," said Datuk Robin Loh, President of MGA who is also the CEO of Nexus Golf Resort Karambunai. "Golf is the best example of 1Malaysia concept as it involves all races with different socio-economic backgrounds and equally on par with both genders."

The 2009 edition held at Bukit Jawi Golf Resort was won by MGA's elite players, Gavin Kyle Green, Abel Tam and Mohamad Azman Basharuddin in the overall boys division at 1st, 2nd and 3rd placing respectively. Kelly Tan on the other hand, took the crown for being the 1st Malaysian girl to win the 100 Plus Malaysian Junior Open girl's overall. The Malaysian duo of Gavin Kyle Green and Kelly Tan also made history by becoming the first Malaysian Team to win the title of the International Team Event.

The 100PLUS Malaysian Junior Open Golf tournament is among several junior programmes that 100PLUS supports in the country. 100PLUS is also the main sponsor for the 100PLUS Super Cup Champions Schools Programme (a nationwide football competition for Under-18 age-groups), the 100PLUS National Junior Badminton Circuit and the Minister of Education Football League.
